Executive Director
Bonnie graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor's in Social Science. She immediately pursued her graduate degree at the University of Michigan, graduating with her master's in Social Work with a concentration in healthcare practice. Bonnie has practiced as a licensed medical social worker both in the inpatient hospital and the Department of Radiation Oncology at St. Joseph Mercy Health System. Before moving into the Executive Director position at the Cancer Support Community, Bonnie served as the founding Program Director. She is an active member of the Michigan Quality Cancer Consortium advisory board and the Internal Review Board for St. Joseph Mercy Cancer Center. She has a particular interest in evidence-based practices to improve the quality of life for people with cancer and their loved ones. She is a published author, a frequent presenter at state and national oncology conferences and adjunct professor at the University of Michigan’s School of Social Work where she teaches grant writing, development, project management, and organizational change.
Director of Administration
Erin graduated from Ferris State University with a bachelor's in Social Work. Following graduation, she pursued a Master of Social Work degree at the University of Michigan. During her graduate program, she studied the management of human services and was an intern at the Cancer Support Community of Greater Ann Arbor. Before returning to CSC as the Development & Outreach Specialist, Erin was the Development Associate at Jewish Family Services of Washtenaw County, where she coordinated and supported development activities including event planning, annual giving campaigns, community outreach, marketing, and grant management.
Program Director
Taylor graduated from Western Michigan University with a bachelor's in Social Work. During her time at WMU, Taylor worked for both Catholic Charities’ Youth Independent Living program, as well as Communities in Schools, where she provided crisis intervention for at-risk youth and their families. She went on to earn her Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan, with a concentration in healthcare. Prior to joining the team as Program Coordinator, Taylor was a Cancer Support Community Intern. During this time, Taylor developed a passion for oncology social work and is deeply committed to the Cancer Support Community’s mission and values.
Associate Program Director
Trevor received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and master’s in Social Work from the University of Michigan. During his training, he worked as a therapist delivering evidence-based treatment in child and adolescent outpatient psychiatry. He developed a particular interest in the management of chronic illness and has had the opportunity to transition to projects directed at just that. Prior to coming to CSC, Trevor helped oversee programs aimed at improving patient-centered cancer care and has had a hand in delivering interventions intended to reduce the burden of symptoms and improve quality of life. This included working with individuals with issues related to cancer and its treatment, substance use, and chronic pain. He is a strong supporter of organizations and programs that aid the emotional and mental wellbeing of all individuals in their communities.
Development & Outreach Manager
Christian graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a minor in Women's Studies (Gender, Race, and Nation). Following this, he went on to earn his Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan. Through his degree tenure, Christian held a concentration in the Management of Human Services and honed his skills while operating as Management Intern with the Cancer Support Community. Following graduation, Christian worked as both an Educational Workshop Facilitator and Administrative Contractor. Through all of these experiences, Christian has maintained a passion and dedication toward improving the efficiency and capacity of organizations. Christian enthusiastically rejoins the Cancer Support Community as the Development and Outreach Manager.
Bookkeeper & Database Associate
Teresa is a dedicated professional with a passion for numbers and a heart for community impact. With a solid background as a skilled bookkeeper, Teresa brings a wealth of experience in financial management to every role she undertakes. Having spent many years in the field, Teresa has honed her expertise in maintaining accurate and organized financial records. Beyond her professional pursuits, Teresa is deeply involved in community service. She has actively volunteered with several nonprofits, utilizing her financial understanding to contribute to the success of these organizations.
Hospital-Based Oncology Counselor
As a part of our innovative partnership program with St. Joseph Mercy Health, Lindsay serves as an individual counselor for patients and loved ones at St. Joe’s Ann Arbor Cancer Center. With a master’s in Social Work from the University of Michigan, Lindsay was drawn to oncology care by her own family’s experiences and her inspiring master’s level field practicum at Karmanos Cancer Institute. Lindsay entered the field of social work as a result of her 10-year experience working with patients and families at the end of life as a hospice volunteer. Prior to accepting her position with the Cancer Support Community in partnership with St. Joe’s, she served as a home hospice social worker. In addition to her interests in hospice and oncology, Lindsay was trained at the U-M Ambulatory Psychiatry Clinic in counseling methods. Before transitioning to social work, she worked as an educator and marketing and public relations consultant in the fields of education and human potential.
Oncology Counselor
Jeff graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a bachelor’s in the fine arts and a minor in psychology. Jeff then went on to earn his Masters of Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Art Therapy from Wayne State University. During his program at WSU, Jeff interned at Karmanos Cancer Institute, where he provided counseling for patients in all stages of their treatment. Jeff developed a passion for working in the mental health field due to his own experiences in his 15 years of military service, from which he medically retired. Through his clinical work, Jeff has cultivated a strong commitment to advocating for men’s mental health and promoting healing through art therapy.
The Brides Project Director
Jan Romans holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Eastern Michigan University with majors in Theatre, Education, and Communication. During her career as a high school teacher, Jan directed countless theatrical productions during which she built strong bonds with her students, many of whom she remains connected with today. It is that connection that Jan brings to The Brides Project, building relationships with the volunteers and brides alike. Jan is especially pleased to be part of a mission that is dedicated to helping those with cancer receive services that improve their quality of life.
